Who is Chad?

Chad Honetschlager is a lifelong Nicollet County resident, public servant, and community-focused leader running for Nicollet County Sheriff.

Chad’s commitment to public safety began more than two decades ago through volunteer service in Nicollet County, where he stepped forward to serve his community long before entering full-time law enforcement. That foundation shaped his belief that public safety is not just a job—it is a shared responsibility between those who serve and the community they serve.

Throughout his career, Chad has remained focused on building trust through consistent, professional service and meaningful community engagement. He believes that the strength of a sheriff’s office is not defined by one person, but by the relationships it builds and the trust it earns from the people it serves.

As a lifelong resident, Chad understands the values of Nicollet County because they are his own. He has remained actively involved in the community through service organizations and local initiatives, working alongside residents and partners to strengthen safety and quality of life.

Chad and his wife, Rachel, have built their life in Nicollet County, raising their family here and staying deeply connected to the community. Together, they have five children, and their commitment to this community continues to shape Chad’s approach to leadership and service.

Chad is running for sheriff with a clear vision: a sheriff’s office that is open, accountable, and truly engaged with the community—not just in words, but in action. He believes the office does not belong to any one individual—it belongs to the people of Nicollet County.

As sheriff, Chad will prioritize transparency, community engagement, and ensuring every voice is heard in how public safety services are delivered. He is committed to strengthening relationships, supporting those who serve, and leading in a way that reflects the values of the entire community.

Chad believes leadership should be earned through service, accountability, and the trust of the people—and he is committed to bringing that approach to the Nicollet County Sheriff’s Office.
